2010 Pathology Slide Conference and Case Presentation of Zoo and Wild Animals
at the 4th Meeting of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine (ASZWM)
Hosted by the Asian Society of Wildlife Pathology and Parasitology
Representative: Tokuma Yanai, DVM, JCVP, PhD
Professor of Veterinary Pathology, Gifu University
Our goal:
To promote slide-exchanging and joint ownership of zoo and wildlife cases among Asian pathologists who are interested in zoo and wild animals, we are planning to have a session of slide conference and case presentation in coming 4th Asian Metting of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This idea originated from that successful slide conference organized by National Taiwan University at the ASVP/ASZWM workshop in Taipei in August in 2007. I think, we are as pathologists need to have as much as opportunity to meet and discuss various interesting causes of zoo and wild animals include various Asian mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fishes, Owing to a limited time frame, only 6 cases will be selected for oral presentation (15 minutes including discussion each).
Like ASVP slide conference in ASVP meeting in Taipei (2007), ASZWM Zoo and Wildlife Slide Conference in Bogor (2008) and Seoul (2009), all conference participant organization will receive a slide set of the presented cases prior to the conference. In case of requiring helps on glass slide preparation, a formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissue block large enough for making more than 20 tissue sections should be sent to Dr. Vincent Hsiao in National Taiwan University.
Microscopic slides or paraffin-embedded tissue blocks along with a brief case history, including signalment, should be submitted to Dr. Vincent Hsiao, Room 511, Veterinary Medicine 3rd Building, National Taiwan University, No.1, Section 4, Roosevelt Road, Taipei 106, Taiwan.
A detailed conference note for the cases of slide conference and case presentation of ASZWM should be typed with Word file following the order of Contributors, Clinical History, Diagnosis, Gross Findings, Histopathological Findings, Immunocytochemical Results, Electron Microscopic Findings, Discussion, and References (The subtitle may be changed to appropriate form if needed) and send to Dr. Vincent Hsiao, <shsiao1@ntu.edu.tw> and Dr. Yanai <yanai@gifu-u.ac.jp>.
